Let's record Dunblane's history
5 MayDunblane is an ancient, historic town, named after St Blane who preached around the 6th Century and with Christian relics perhaps as old as the 10th Century. It was granted city status around 1500 and has a beautiful, much-admired Cathedral dating from at least 1240.
This small, pleasant town has a rich, eventful history - so let's trace it here!
If there's a particular aspect of Dunblane's history which really grabs your interest, then this is the place to talk about it.
It doesn't matter how small it may be - little bits of everyday history are just as interesting as grand events.
Perhaps you've got an old black and white photo of the town - post it here with whatever information you have. You'll be surprised how willing people are to fill in the gaps. Or maybe you remember some real local characters and want to talk about them here - you'll be amazed how many other people are interested.
Another good idea is to build a timeline. Just list the key dates and let other people add to it.
You don't have to be a historian or an expert - every little helps. Even if you've heard some good tales of the past, but perhaps you're not sure about the details, then post them here and explain your doubts - someone out there will know the truth!
But, of course, if you are a keen local historian then this is a great place to show off what you've found out - you never know, you might get feedback you didn't expect that opens up whole new areas for you.
And don't forget, history doesn't have to be in black and white. Old school photographs and memories from as recently as the 1980s or 90s are of interest to a lot of people - and they all help to build up Dunblane's rich history.
